In How to Get a Billion Views on YouTube professional skateboarder, Aaron Kyro, gives you the Braille Skateboarding story in the form of a practical guide to growing a YouTube channel into a full time career.
An easy and quick read that never gets lost in too much detail. As a result, even if you're not growing a skateboarding channel, the content is still very relevant and not difficult to see how it transfers to whatever kind of channel you are trying to build.
The book is more a step by step guide to starting, growing, and running a YouTube channel as a business. However where it differs from other books on the subject is that almost every piece of advice is related back to what Aaron and the Braille Skateboarding team did on their journey with actual examples of process and content.
The last third of the book is a much appreciated overview of YouTube's analytics simplified so you can clearly understand how the data relates to your actual video content. This is followed by a brief overview of things to consider if you reach the stage of formalizing your channel into an actual legal business structure.
Written in Aaron Kyro's very minimalist style, no time is wasted with unnecessary details. The book never gets overly reflective or bogged down with Braille Skateboarding anecdotes if they don't serve to support the narrative of how to grow a YouTube business. Which is why I think even non skateboarders will find this book useful as a real case study with transferable concepts to any kind of channel.
There are certainly other books that go into building a YouTube channel in much more depth and detail but if you're not into all the technical stuff and just want a road map of what to do that is easy to digest, this book is very much that.
An inspiring read that gives you both a case study and a clear path to growing a YouTube channel from scratch. Read fast and commit.
